When we started planning our trip to Japan, one thing was non-negotiable. We wanted to surprise Jax with Tokyo DisneySea for his 9th birthday.
The surprise part was easy.
The panic started when we began researching it.
Every Instagram reel seemed to tell us exactly the same thing. Get there at 6am. Queue for hours. Sprint to Frozen the second the gates open. Have one person running while another frantically refreshes the Disney App trying to buy fast passes before they disappear.
Honestly, we were dreading it.
The thought of dragging an excited nine-year-old around one of the busiest theme parks in the world while staring at our phones all day didn't sound much like a birthday.
Thankfully, almost none of it turned out that way.
If you're planning a visit, don't let social media convince you that your day has to be military level organised. Ours certainly wasn't.
If you still need your park tickets, you can book them here.
Before we even arrived, I made sure all five of our tickets were linked inside the Disney App.
That was probably the best bit of preparation we did.
Instead of everyone trying to buy passes individually, I could do it all from my phone in one go.
We also spent about twenty minutes looking through the park map together the night before. Nothing complicated. We simply wrote down the rides we absolutely wanted to do and roughly ranked them.
Anna and Elsa's Frozen Journey Journey to the Centre of the Earth Soaring: Fantastic flight Tower of Terror Peter Pan's Neverland Adventure Everything else would be a bonus
That little list stopped us making decisions in the middle of the day when everything feels loud and everyone is hungry.
We arrived at around 8am for the 9am opening.
Not 6am.
Not before sunrise.
Just an hour early.
There are loads of entrance queues so don't panic when you arrive. They spread everyone out really well. We found a queue, ate breakfast while we waited and just chatted. It honestly felt pretty relaxed.
